Two great items on the grill are:

Potatoes & onions sliced thinly. Make a foil pouch, layer a layer of potatoes & then onion slices, alternate, put a few dollops of butter, any spices you love, seal up the pouch & pop on the grill. As they are sliced thinly they don't take long - approx 20 mins. Enjoy!

Another foil pouch item is grilled veggies! I use many different combinations, depending what I have on hand. My favorite combo is: beets, sliced thinly, mushrooms, cut in half, peppers, either sliced or chunks, red onion, chunks. Drizzle with olive oil & your favorite spice combo, seal up the pouch, approx 20 -30 mins for these also. Yummy!

Good for you Courtney! I am also an author and avid sailor. I am in the process of purchasing a 36'-40' sloop, which I will live aboard forever. Like you, most of my worldly possesions will be left behind. With me will be my English Pointer, "Bella", my lapt top, cell phone, my red motor scooter and some personal posessions. I will moor the boat in the harbor of Cassis, France on the French Riviera. I have a 10' Zodiac to get me back and forth to the marina and my scooter (round trip 5 min.) Let's try to keep in touch. You can use my Hotmail or dakotaenterprises6@gmail.com

For sure, the liveaboard who thought I was "liberal and wild" was subscribing to the same definition I have of "liberal" which is nothing like "classical liberalism" of which Milton Friedman was a supporter, but the modern day connotation of "liberal." Essentially this guy thought I was, to some degree, a kind of hippy. And I'm not a hippy. Not even close. The meanings of words transform over the years. Not so long ago, "gay" just meant happy. My mother went to high school with someone named Gay. That's not what it means now.

If you knew this guy I was referring to, this would be much easier to explain ;-)

My definition and use of the word "liberal" describes someone who (and this is a total stereotype by the way) drives a Prius with an Obama and/or Coexist bumper sticker (the one using all those different symbols), thinks it's totally fine to sleep with whomever they're dating (or not dating), buys organic food, and may even consider themselves to be part of an Occupy Whatever City 99 percenter. That's liberal to me. And that's not me :-)

Isn't saying you're not a liberal, really a pretty liberal thing to say? I think the definitions of what is "traditional" has changed from previous generations. It used to be the norm to wait until marriage and all that jazz, so now it's pretty new behavior to wait until after marriage.

Also, everyone has to be liberal in a way. The fact that you decided to live on a sailboat instead of in a house or apartment is pretty counter-grain and would be liberal even if you don't hate houses/apartments.

Sidenote: everything you stated, to me sounds liberal because I consider myself 'liberal.' Pretty much everything you described about yourself I would consider about me as well, except not a lot of classical music makes it's way through my speakers... don't like the way they sound on mp3. So maybe the person who called you "liberal and wild" was only referring to that which they knew about you... the fact you lived on a sailboat.... or they have a different definition of what traditional and non-traditional values are now.
