Wish List & To Do

A 1972 sailboat needs lots of things: new tools, new equipment, regular maintenance, and love, love, love. I’m prepared and able to give her the latter, but need to pace out the other items and tasks. Some projects are for winter, some need to be done now, others yesterday. This page is here to list all the items, improvements, and tasks Libby needs. It’s a way for me to keep track of my to-do list, and a way for you to see what’s going on with the boat. If you have experience with any of the following, I’d love to hear your thoughts, tips, etc.

Item Wish List

Apparently the AirBreeze has white blades, and the one pictured has black. Oh well.

AirBreeze from AirEx

When I’m living on the hook during summer, or am out cruising, I need to keep my batteries charged up. I have a generator right now, but that’s loud and kinda smelly. A wind turbine, in combination with solar panels, will keep my batteries full of juicy goodness.

Polycrystalline Solar Panel

Polycrystalline solar panels work well in low sun areas (which is where I live). The link to this image goes to West Marine, but I’ll be looking for the most economical option out there. The product link is for Sharp Electronics, do you know of a better, more reliable brand for solar panels?

Monocrystalline Solar Panel

For those rare sunny days, this baby is the best option for generating lots of power. Ideally I’ll have a monocrystalline (this one or another brand and wattage), a polycrystalline (above) and the wind turbine, which will give me enough power to control the entire world! Muhahahaha!

Norcold SCQT4407 Marine Ice Box Conversion Kit for Up to 6 Cu Ft

Nothing says posh living like pulling a wet food item from the icebox. Hauling ice into the boat a couple of times a week gets annoying, and I don’t want to do it any longer than necessary. I’ve heard good things about the Norcold conversion system, so this baby is on the list of things I need.

Dickinson 00-NEW Diesel Newport Bulkhead Heater – Diesel Fireplace

It gets cold on a boat, and it gets cold here in winter. I’ll want this little baby to keep me nice and warm and toasty. A cold Courtney is a miserable and cranky Courtney. I don’t need one of these brand new–used would suffice.
