Soon and very soon I’ll be living on the hook once more, and with that hopefully going through the great rigamarole of pulling up my anchor (I am without a windlass) and setting sail for destinations far and wide. Though my boat is equipped with a nifty GPS system, it’s best practice to be able to know where one is without the use of technology. It would be just my luck to be crossing a large body of water when my GPS decides it’s been taken advantage of and then go on strike. Therefore I decided to finally open Coastal Navigation by Mike Pyzel, which was loaned to me by some fellow liveaboards at the start of winter. Yes, I’m just now opening it. No, I’m not sure what I’ve been doing all winter long. I suspect that the internet and all its distractions is a major culprit in my procrastination. Continue reading
